The FOREX ski index compares the cost of a week's holiday at 30 ski resorts around the world, including lift passes and equipment hire. Below you can find from the cheapest to the most expensive ski trips and resorts listed.
As in several of FOREX's previous Ski Indexes, Central Europe and the Balkans stand out as gems for skiers looking for maximum skiing for their money. For example, Bansko in Bulgaria and Zakopane in Poland, both with an index of 49, have become popular destinations for affordable ski trips. New this year is that Gudauri in Georgia, Parnassos in Greece and Erciyes in Turkey have joined the index. With their spectacular views and affordable ski packages, they show that great skiing shouldn't just be associated with the Alps or the mountains.
The various ski destinations in Central and Eastern Europe are growing in popularity every year, not least for those who want to enjoy a ski holiday at an affordable price. In addition, countries such as Greece and Turkey have made it into the top 10 cheapest list.
Bansko in Bulgaria and Zakopane in Poland, in 5th and 6th place on the list, are still part of the world's most viral ski resorts. The standard may vary, but first-time travelers rarely come home after a trip to a newly discovered ski destination and are dissatisfied with the service, amenities and skiing. If you want to enjoy Italian food on your ski trip, then this year Alagna in Italy has entered the list and is ranked number 13 on the list.

The ski resort that is absolutely the most expensive according to our ski index is Whistler in Canada with an index of 247. In second and third place from the bottom we find Jackson Hole in the USA (226) and Zermatt, Switzerland (219).
For an exclusive ski holiday, there is a wide range of luxury destinations in both North America and Europe. These resorts offer state-of-the-art lift systems, exclusive restaurants and accommodation of the highest standard, with prices to match. If you want to splurge on your sports holiday, there is plenty of the good stuff in the US, Canada, Switzerland and France.
Keep in mind that more people than we Nordics have sports or winter holidays, it occurs in many countries sometime between the end of January and the beginning of March and demand drives prices. This is not least noticeable in the cost of hotels, which is at its highest in several resorts in our measurement period.

The FOREX Ski Index shows what it costs to go on a ski holiday in different locations compared to Sälen, which has an index of 100, and shows average costs for hotels, food, lift passes and rental of ski equipment for two people during the period February to March 2025.
It is worth mentioning that even if a destination has a low index overall, some costs may still be higher compared to a destination with a higher index. An index shows a price development and compares price levels during a certain period, which means that price changes on e.g. hotels, restaurant visits, taxis can affect the index over time.
