Cheapest to Most Expensive Ski Resorts in 2024
The FOREX Ski Index compares what it costs to holiday for a week at 30 ski resorts around the world, including lift passes and equipment rental. This year's cheapest ski destination is the Serbian ski resort of Kopaonik, where a ski week costs almost 40 percent less than a week in Swedish Sälen.
The 10 cheapest ski resorts
The cheapest ski destination of the year, the Serbian ski resort Kopaonik (36), which is often compared to Norwegian Trysil, is located right here. In second place is Zakopane in Poland (44) and in third place is Bulgarian Bansko (50), which incidentally has sailed up to place seven on the top ten list of the world's most viral ski resorts.

Cheapest to ski in Eastern Europe
Central and Eastern Europe's various ski destinations are growing in popularity, not least for those who want to enjoy a ski holiday at an affordable price. The cheapest ski destination of the year, the Serbian ski resort Kopaonik (36), which is often compared to Norwegian Trysil, is located right here. A ski week in Kopaonik costs only 36% of what a week in Swedish Sälen costs. Kopaonik is located at a slightly lower altitude and the availability of snow can be uncertain, but several other exciting resorts in central and eastern Europe are all the more snow-sure and almost as affordable.
In second place is Zakopane in Poland (44) and in third place is Bulgarian Bansko (50), which incidentally has sailed up to place seven on the top ten list of the world's most viral ski resorts. The standard can vary, but it is not uncommon for first-time travelers to return home after a trip to a newly discovered ski destination and are surprisingly satisfied with the service, pleasantries and skiing. If you want to enjoy Italian food on your ski trip, you should go to Champoluc, which is number seven on the list with an index of 86.

The three most expensive ski resorts are located in North America and France
If you want to bang your buck during the winter holidays, there are plenty of North American and European resorts to choose from, but there is also a complete selection. Great skiing, great service and high standard. The ski resort that according to our ski index is by far the most expensive is Whistler in Canada with an index of 275. In second and third place from the bottom we find Val d'Isére in France (231) and Jackson Hole in the United States (218).
Keep in mind that more people than us Nordic people have sports or winter holidays, it occurs in many countries sometime between the end of January and the beginning of March and demand drives prices. This is evident not least in the cost of hotels, which is at its highest in several locations in our measurement period from 12 February to 10 March 2024.

The FOREX Ski Index shows what it costs to go on a ski holiday in different locations compared to Sälen, which has an index of 100, and shows average costs for hotels, food, lift passes and rental of ski equipment for two people during the period 12 February to 10 March 2024. The data on hotel prices comes from Booking.com.
Indices give a price indication
It is worth mentioning that even if a destination has a low index overall, some costs may still be higher compared to a destination with a higher index. An index shows a price development and compares price levels during a certain period, which means that price changes on e.g. hotels, restaurant visits, taxis can affect the index over time.
