Christmas markets are now opening

To meet Christmas with the Christmas market at Tivoli amusement park is a must for Christmas fans and a classic Copenhagen tradition. The Christmas trees shine in beautiful colors, twinkling lights light up the evening, the stalls are teeming with Christmas sweets and the garden with lovely tones.

Not only that, there are rides and entertainment for both young and old.

There is always something to experience in Berlin. With a plethora of Christmas markets, the German capital offers something a little extra during the month leading up to Christmas. Everything from large and traditional to small and modern. Here are three that offer something truly special.

Crafts and delicacies at Gendarmenmarkt/Bebelplatz, where streets and neighborhoods are filled with market stalls, where you can buy both handicrafts and culinary delights. 

Romantic Nordic Christmas atmosphere in Prenzlauer Berg. Between the old brewhouses in Prenzlauer Berg you will find a shimmering white Nordic Christmas landscape with over 60 market stalls.

Royal Christmas market at Charlottenburg Palace. At Charlottenburg Palace you get nothing less than a royal experience. The castle provides a beautiful setting for the Christmas market - especially in the evening.

In the run-up to Christmas, Vienna is transformed into an idyllic Christmas city with beautifully decorated streets, glittering lights and fantastic Christmas markets. One of the most famous, the Christkindlmarkt am Rathausplatz, is located in the park around the Rathausplatz town hall. Where the fantastic light installations are lit after the sun goes down. As you walk around the 150 stalls, the air is filled with the sweet smell of gingerbread, mulled wine and Christmas food.

If you are of the slightly more discerning type, a tram ride out to the imperial family's summer palace Schönbrunn is something to recommend. Here, in the outer courtyard, you will find small-scale wine producers, glassblowers, fine carpenters and good food.

The Bath Christmas Market stretches through the entire World Heritage City centre from late November to early December, including places such as Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths and the Thermae Spa.

Hint! If you're going to Bath from London and you're interested in history, you can pop past Stonehenge on the way there.

Lübeck, located on the River Trave, has northern Germany's most popular Christmas market on the Town Hall Square, dating back 350 years. Today, it also takes place on the pedestrian street Breite Straße next to the town hall square and on Koberg, where a large Ferris wheel spins. Another event is the Christmas market for handicrafts in the medieval Heiligen-Geist hospital. In the church hall and in the small cabins you will find artisans and it smells of spruce green and waffles.

The children's favorite is usually the Fairytale Forest where you can meet Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel and all the other fairy tale characters.
